About The Music
Coamhim  has always operated on less than a "shoestring" budget.    Musical creativity was never the issue;  money and resources to pursue his craft always was.  Wherever he lived, his bedroom would inevitability become his music studio and he worked with equipment and "low end" instruments that he cobbled together over time. He has never had the advantage of being able to afford to work in a "real" recording studio, hence the somewhat "low-fi" quality of his music. Because of space and "loud noise" limitations (objections from his apartment neighbors when he was recording), he always used headphones to record and do final mixes of his projects. Hence, his recordings sound  much better when listened to with headphones and is highly recommended for the best listening experience.  All of his recordings were analog until 2004 when he began working with a computerized music program called ProTools, a digital music system he became familiar with during the time (1999-2000-2001) he was engaged in audio engineering classes at a junior college in Seattle, Wa.  There is a perceptible improvement  in the quality of  his recordings as time progressed from the early analog Tascam 4 track recorder music to the later digital recordings.  That more recent window of time (early 2004 until his last musical composition completed in October of 2007) is also when his musical productivity was at it's nadir; well over  200 completed songs with an additional nearly 100 partial projects in just 3 1/2 years. He had so much going on creatively in his mind, he just had to "Let It All Out".

Coamhim was and always has been a virtually 100% solo artist.  Out of more than 250 recordings, there have been only 3 collaborations; 2 with Greg Kimble on "Sorrow's Ocean" and "Lover's Treason" and a small harmonica part played by his father on "All We Ever Are".  Following in that vein, all of the song writing (lyrics and music), all of the  instrument playing, all of the recording and production work was done by Coamhim (except in a very few noted instances where sampling was done).   Some of the recordings clearly could and would benefit from additional outside collaborative talent (vocally and/or instrumentally), but,  one of Coamhim's strengths is being able to work "inside" his own limitations.  One can certainly find better vocalists or musicians from a technical standpoint, but more often than not what he may have lacked in sheer raw talent he more than makes up for with imagination, his ability to "laser focus", his tenacity and his technical expertise during the recording process.

Coamhim, as mentioned on the "About The Artist" page, has a rich and varied background in human experience that has given him a fertile landscape from which his active imagination harvests musical ideas of all kinds.  From seeing a particular woman at a Denny's restaurant (Reflection), to a phone message left by a friend (Zach), to the death of a musician friend (Valisa), to a playful pet (The Darby Shuffle), to working in a haunted house (Smokin' Crack With Rodney The Zombie), to being homeless (Wannabe Saint), to having an "urban adventure" with a Navajo man (Spiritwalk), to being on disability (Free Money), to a sad ending of a romantic relationship (She Chose Drugs), to the loss of a longtime friendship (Friend), to experiencing psychosis (The Voice), to the aftermath of a tragic fire (Death Of A Piano), to hearing the news about bad astronauts (Astronaughty), to experiencing legal action against himself (Coamhim's Courtroom Theme), to being poor and angry about it (Peasant), to what happened in grade school (Back In The 4th Grade), to being "different" (The Average Man), to visions of death (Permanent Term and Afterlife Wicked), Coamhim through music gives his interpretations, insights and meaning to a myriad of events both mundane and life changing.   His views and observations of these differing experiences are so unusual, so "out side the box", that the resulting music likewise does not fit well into the usual cubbyholed genres. The songs he creates speak loudly to his unlimited imagination and to his uniqueness as a musical artist.

Coamhim's listed musical catalog on this site numbers at 258 compositions.  This is an incomplete list of all of his work as he has approximately 110 additional musical ideas or "Incomplete Projects" in his library of work yet to be brought to fruition.  Because of the the personal difficulties he is facing at this juncture of his life, those additional works as of this writing may or may not ever be completed. Whatever the future holds for Coamhim, he has created an amazing amount of imaginative music. And, for those who are interested,  there is much in his library of work to marvel in, appreciate and enjoy. So, thank you again for stopping by and happy listening !!! (of course, with headphones please!)
